Delivery

How Fast Can a Container Be Delivered Outside the Indianapolis Metro, and What Does Delivery Cost?

If your jobsite sits an hour or two from the city, two questions come up first: how fast can a container get there, and what does delivery cost? Every container leaves our yard on the northwest side of Indianapolis at 96th St and Michigan Rd on our own trucks, driven by our own drivers, and delivery and pickup are separate services, each priced per trip by distance. For every city we deliver to, see Container Rentals Indiana.

What Delivery Costs Across Indiana

Here’s what delivery typically runs outside the Indianapolis metro, per trip:

City Delivery estimate (per trip)
Lebanon ~$325
Greenwood ~$325
Noblesville ~$325
Plainfield ~$325
Anderson ~$375
Kokomo ~$400
Lafayette ~$425
Muncie ~$450
Columbus ~$450
Bloomington ~$475
Terre Haute ~$500
Fort Wayne ~$675

These are estimates only. Your actual delivery and pickup price is calculated for your exact site and shown on your quote before you accept, and it can vary quite a bit based on current fuel prices, site access, and scheduling.

How quickly can you deliver a container to my location, and are there any areas in Indiana where delivery fees might be higher?

The farther your site is from our yard, the higher the per-trip price. That’s why the cities around Indianapolis land in the same range as the city itself while Fort Wayne sits at the top of the table. Timing is a separate question, covered below.

How much to deliver a 40ft container?

The same as a 20 ft to the same address on the standard truck. The price is set by distance, not container length, so use the table above for a ballpark and let us price your exact address.

How Delivery and Pickup Pricing Works

Delivery and pickup are each priced per trip based on one-way distance to your site. Both appear on your quote before you accept, and both land on your first invoice only, so they never repeat. The pickup price is locked at the time you order, so the number you see at the start is the number you pay at the end.

Our no-fees pricing means no property fees, no excise taxes, and no fuel surcharges. Fuel is part of how the delivery price is calculated, not an extra line added later. For far-away sites, delivery and pickup are a real share of the total on a short rental. Storage rentals run $185 per 28-day cycle for a 40 ft and $165 for a 20 ft, so the longer the container stays, the more those two trips spread out.

How do delivery and pickup fees typically work, and can I avoid them by picking up the container myself?

You can pick up and return a container yourself. The catch is that loading and unloading one takes highly specialized equipment, so for almost everyone it isn’t worth it compared to the delivery trip.

What delivery and setup fees should I expect when renting a shipping container in Indiana?

Delivery and pickup are the only per-trip charges. There’s no separate setup fee. The one other requirement on every rental is insurance coverage, satisfied with either a certificate of insurance or the Loss Damage Waiver, which is an optional service we offer, not a fee.

What factors affect the delivery cost the most, like distance, container condition, or location accessibility?

Distance does the heavy lifting. Site access and scheduling can move the final number. For example, a tight site where a 20 ft needs our integrated tow-style truck costs more to deliver. Container condition never factors in, because every container we rent is new one-trip.

How Long Delivery Takes

Quotes go out the same day. Once you accept, we schedule delivery as soon as possible and confirm the date with you ahead of time. We don’t promise next-day delivery or a fixed number of days, but because we run our own trucks and drivers, we’re not waiting on a third-party hauler to fit you in.

A few things on your end keep it moving:

  • The site is ready and the drop spot is picked
  • Access is clear, with nothing parked in the backing lane
  • You’ve told us which way the doors should face
  • Your certificate of insurance or Loss Damage Waiver is already set up

How long does it usually take to get a container delivered to my location?

You get a quote the same day you ask, and once you accept, we get you on the schedule and confirm your date. Having the site ready and your insurance handled up front is what keeps it moving.

How long does it usually take to get a container delivered to my specific location in Indiana?

Distance affects your price far more than your timing. Scheduling works the same whether you’re in Greenwood or Fort Wayne.

How quickly can local Indiana providers deliver a container to my location, and do they offer flexible pickup schedules?

Pickup happens when you say you’re done. There’s no minimum rental term, so you keep the container for the 28-day cycles you need and call us when the project wraps.

Site Requirements Before Delivery

Containers arrive on a tilt-bed truck and slide off, so no crane or forklift is needed. The truck needs room to back in straight: at least 100 feet for a 40 ft and about 80 feet for a 20 ft. A 20 ft can be dropped in roughly 50 feet with our integrated tow-style truck at a higher delivery price; that option isn’t available for a 40 ft. You’ll also need about 14 feet of overhead clearance along the path and up to 16 feet at the drop point. The ground should be firm, level, and well drained, and we can build a compacted rock pad if it isn’t. See our delivery requirements page for the full checklist.

Are there specific space or clearance requirements I need to know about before scheduling a container delivery to my property?

Yes: straight-line backing room, overhead clearance, and solid, level ground, as described above. If you’re not sure your site works, send us a photo and we’ll tell you straight. You can also see our storage container rentals and office containers.
